My Korean Glass Skin Routine

Comment /

Have you heard of the Korean Glass Skin?

Ellie Choi

Ellie Choi, (a.k.a. Elliejellyb3an on Instagram) shared her tips on getting the perfect, glass looking skin on her social media. It quickly went viral without a doubt, because her skin was flawless. Clearly, who wouldn’t kill to have skin like hers.

As you'll see in the rest of this article, I don't use the same products as Ellie does. I formed my skin care routine on what product works for me, and what doesnt. Simply because skin care products may not have the same effect on different skin types. Hence, I strongly suggest you do the same.

Without further ado, here is my version of Korean Glass Skin Routine.

Korean Glass Skin Routine

Note: I have dry & sensitive skin.

Step 1: Garnier Micellar All-in-1 Cleansing Water (Oil Free)

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water

I recently started using this product about two months ago, as I started getting my eyelashes extensions. I had no choice but to use an oil free cleanser to protect the permanent glue on my lashes. In the midst of finding a good oil free makeup remover, I came across this Micellar Cleansing Water. I soak the cotton pad, then gently wipe away makeup at the end of the day.

Step 2: Cleansing foam –Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam

It's time to double cleanse! Although the micellar water is supposed to remove all the makeup without rinsing afterwards, I still see some makeup residue on the towel after I dap my face with it. Always, always, always, double cleanse! It's the most basic, yet most essential component of Korean skin care. I cannot stress this enough!

I've been using this cleansing foam ever since it came out in the market. I can easily say this is one of my holy grail items. Everything about this cleansing foam is JUST. RIGHT.

Step 3: Exfoliate – Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off

If you're interested in skin care, perhaps you're already aware that you shouldn't exfoilate your skin too frequency, especially if you have sensitive skin. Other than how often you should exfoliate your skin, choosing the right exfoliatior is crucial in this step. Because I have such sensitive skin, I went ahead and picked up a product with the least abrasive beads. After I leave the mask on for about ten munutes, I gently rub my face in a circular motion, then I rinse it off with water. I use this product once a week to get rid of any dead skin cells on the surface of my skin.

Step 4: Toner – Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol Free Toner

Next up is toner. But it specifically has to be alcohol free. The first thing you need for supple skin is deeply hydrated skin not just on the outside, but from the inside. First, I spray generous amount of toner on my face, and gently dab for better absorption. I either repreat this step about two or three times more, or wet the Etude House Soonjung Dry Capsule Sheet with the toner, and leave it on my skin until it's dry.

Moving onto the moisturizer! This is another one of my holy grail items. It smells nice, hydrates my skin, it does its job more than enough.

Step 7: Cream – Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask

Last step of my glass skin routine is this guy - Cosrx Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask. Jae's review on this mask got me hooked up, and I had to get one for myself too. Although this is an overnight spa mask, you can still use this as a daily cream to lock all your previous hard work.

Glass skin is not about being shiny or oily. Rather, it is about clear and supple skin that glows from the inside. Won't you try it as well?
