Water Splash! Dr. Jart Vital Hydra Solution Sheet Mask - M Review 33

Comment /

Sheet Mask packaging is an art of design. You know, compared to other cosmetic product designs that needs to be printed on cylindrical container, sheet mask is like a canvas. In fairly flat rectangular plane, designers should show the best of the product. I do not know from when I begin to see “pill” print from the sheet mask package but one thing for sure, Dr. Jart is the absolute best seller between those “pill” covered mask.

Dr. Jart’s Water Jet Vital Hydra Solution is one of the best-selling hydration masks for sure, along with Mediheal’s N.M.F Aquaring Ampoule and Leaders’ Aquaringer Skin Clinic sheet masks. Out of all three, I have waited long to write a review about Dr.Jart's Vital Hydra Solution since this sheet mask is in my regular routine. So, let’s see how this mask is.

First Impression

Dr. Jart's Vital Hydra Solution is made with protection film. Because the mask material is relatively thin and has extreme adherence, the protection film is a really smart idea. (Remember the struggle when you use Jayjun’s mask.) Dr. Jart does not publish which mask material they used, but the mask material is very soft and has extremely good adherence. Mask texture is somewhat between Jayjun & Elensilia’s masks. It contains quite viscous gel-like essence and because of the high absorbance of the mask fabric, the pouch does not have much essence despite of its generous essence contents. (It’s a good thing, because it means most of the serum sits on the mask, not in the pouch.) Because of the gel-textured serum, the mask does not dry out easily unlike masks made with watery essence.

Ingredients

The base for Vital Hydra Solution is the conventional water-glycerin- butylene glycol trio. Betaine and hyluaronic acid are used as humectants, and some extracts were contained as well. Interesting part is the Aquaxyl complex (Xylitylglucoside, Anhydroxylitol ,Xylitol) is used in a relatively large amount. Aquaxyl is made from SEPPIC (France,) a patent ingredient for hydration and moisture lock-up. It is also used in Elensilia’s eye care line. Panthenol, a pro-vitamin B5 is used in a generous amount as well (5 th ingredient) as hygroscopic and skin-repairing ingredient. I can see they add ingredients regardless of the production cost. Although we have to consider Dr. Jart’s sheet masks being significantly more expensive than other hydration mask, looking at Vital Hydra Solution's ingredients made me feel comfortable to pay few extra dollars, lol. The one thing I don’t like in the ingredient list is ethanol. I assume they add this for the texture since panthenol, betaine and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid leave extremely sticky residue after use. But for the people who are sensitive to alcohol, it may cause irritation. So, please be aware of the ethanol contents in this mask.

After Thought

As you know, I am a Korean beauty curator. Meaning, I have to test unimaginable number of products every day and night. So I have only handful of products on my regular routine, but Dr. Jart's Vital Hydra Solution is one of my regular items. I generally don’t like masks with refreshing finish because it dries up my skin. This one doesn’t, and made my skin deeply hydrated and refreshed simultaneously. Especially during summer, this hydrating & refreshing finish is just irresistible. I think this mask is good for most of skin, from combination to dry. If you have extremely dry skin in winter, however, I will say go for AHC or Leaders.

Pros : Optimal texture, prolonged hydration with refreshing texture

Cons : Not ideal for alcohol sensitive skin

Ideas : Routine mask for summer
