Intensive Moisturizing Cream for Dry Skin

Finding the right moisturizer for your skin can make or break a skincare routine, and with so many to choose from, the hunt for the perfect one gets even harder. Moisturizers are an essential part of any skincare routine because, regardless of skin type, we have to replenish our skin barrier with moisture to prevent water loss in the skin and have it working at its best. Hydrated skin is healthy skin!

On my search for a new moisturizer, I’ve been testing the Etude House Soonjung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream for the past two weeks. If you haven’t tried Etude House’s Soonjung line...what are you waiting for? The Soonjung line has been raved about for its super gentle formulation that works on sensitive skin types for an affordable price. The Soonjung Toner and Hydro Barrier Cream worked wonders on my skin when I needed to reset my skincare routine, so I was excited to receive the Barrier Intensive Cream to try out.

Soon Jung Moisturizing Cream

Ingredients:

Water, Propanediol, Pentaerythrityl Tetraethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Glycerin, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-3 Methylglucose Distearate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Cetearyl Alcohol, Panthenol, Madecassoside, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Potassium Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, Butylene Glycol, Disodium Edta

What I love about the Soonjung 2x Barrier Intensive Cream is the ingredient list - super simple and minimal that is great for all skin types, especially sensitive skin.

Sunflower Seed Oil is a nourishing oil that is suitable for all skin types and is non-irritating and doesn’t clog pores. It is also a great source of vitamin E that can alleviate irritation in the skin. Shea Butter is another emollient hydrator that is commonly used to nourish the skin that work especially well for dry skin types. Panthenol and Madecassoside adds soothing and protecting benefits to help heal and recover a damaged skin barrier.

Texture and Application:

First of all, this product is so smartly packaged! There’s a twist top that opens and closes the dispenser on the cream which makes it a bit more hygienic and prevents it from leaking especially when you’re traveling. The product itself is pretty thick in texture, but it glides smoothly across the skin - you’ll definitely feel moisturized with one layer. It leaves the skin looking dewy and hydrated over time.

Personal Thoughts:

I had no issues adding this into my current routine - it played well with my other products and did not cause my sensitive skin any irritation. However, I do feel like for my oily skin type, it was a bit too heavy for my preference. I enjoyed using this more in my night routine since I like a moisturizer that is lightweight and will barely feel on my skin during the daytime. When using it at night, my skin would definitely feel more hydrated the next morning. I would probably use this more in the dry months during the fall and winter season. I would say this is a great simple moisturizer that most skin types can use, but I would probably recommend this more to dry to normal skin types that may also be sensitive.

Takeaways:

Recommending for dry, normal, or sensitive skin types

Minimal, simple moisturizer to restore the skin barrier - think Cerave

Super affordable - around $15 on Masksheets (product link)

Let me know if you’ve tried this moisturizer!

Until next time,
